On Monday, the House Oversight Committee released a new batch of documents related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, including the infamous “Birthday Book” compiled by Ghislaine Maxwell in 2003. The release is part of the committee’s ongoing investigation into how US government agencies handled the Epstein case over the years.

The book has drawn renewed attention due to a controversial letter reportedly signed by then-businessman Donald Trump. The note, typed within the outline of what appears to be a woman’s body, had already surfaced in past reports but was officially included in the committee’s latest release.

President Trump has denied ever sending such a letter to Epstein. However, House Democrats publicised the document just hours before the full batch of files was released. The existence of this note was first reported by The Wall Street Journal.

In a statement, Rep. Robert Garcia of California, the top Democrat on the Oversight Committee, confirmed, “The committee has secured the infamous ‘Birthday Book’ that contains a note from President Trump that he has said does not exist.”

According to CBS News, the book includes sections labeled “friends,” where names like Trump and former President Bill Clinton appear. A handwritten note, seemingly signed by Clinton, reads in part, “It’s reassuring isn’t it, to have lasted as long, across all the years of learning and knowing … and also to have your childlike curiosity, the drive to make a difference and the solace of friends.”

In response, a Clinton spokesperson reiterated a 2019 statement saying the former president had not spoken to Epstein in over a decade and “knows nothing about the terrible crimes” Epstein was accused of.

The document dump also included Epstein’s will, entries from multiple address books, and a copy of his controversial non-prosecution agreement with federal prosecutors, the committee said.

Meanwhile, the White House responded on behalf of President Trump. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated that the president’s legal team “will continue to aggressively pursue litigation” against The Wall Street Journal, which published the letter in July. Trump has called the document a “FAKE,” and has filed a $10 billion lawsuit, alleging libel and slander.
