Abhinay Deo awaits Aamir’s call on Delhi Belly 2, shares updates

'Waiting for Aamir Khan's call': Abhinay Deo on 'Delhi Belly 2'; drops major updates on '24' Season 3 and 'Brown' Season 2

Abhinay Deo is enjoying renewed attention for two of his major projects. Karisma Kapoor’s crime thriller ‘Brown’ has finally reached viewers after a three-year wait, while his 2013 television series ‘24’ has returned to the spotlight on streaming. The filmmaker has praised Kapoor’s fearless transformation for her role and revealed that talks have begun for ‘Brown’ Season 2 and ‘24’ Season 3. However, neither season has been officially confirmed.

Abhinay Deo praises Karisma Kapoor in ‘Brown’

Speaking to Mid-day, Deo described the timing of both shows finding viewers together as a “sweet coincidence.” The Indian adaptation of Kiefer Sutherland’s American real-time thriller arrived on streaming platforms about two weeks before ‘Brown’ premiered on ZEE5. Deo said ‘24’, led by Anil Kapoor, remains among the top 10 shows on JioHotstar even 13 years after its original release. He has also received calls from viewers who missed the series earlier and are now discovering it.For ‘Brown’, Deo presented Karisma Kapoor without makeup and avoided the glamorous image associated with her earlier films. He viewed the crime drama as an opportunity for the actor to reinvent herself.Deo told Kapoor that audiences would enjoy seeing her as they remembered her from 30 years ago, but the project offered her a chance to attempt something unexpected. Kapoor immediately supported the idea and said, “I love it. I’m all game.”She also avoided touch-ups between shots to maintain the character’s raw appearance.

‘Brown’ Season 2 and ‘24’ Season 3 discussed

Deo confirmed that conversations have started about new installments of both shows. He said the teams are discussing Season 3 of ‘24’ and Season 2 of ‘Brown’, but stressed that nothing is official. The director now plans to take a brief break before returning to development. He believes time away will help him organize his ideas and decide which projects to pursue next. Deo also addressed a possible sequel to ‘Delhi Belly’, which completes 15 years on July 1. The 2011 comedy starred Imran Khan, Vir Das and Kunaal Roy Kapur. The filmmaker remains ready to direct ‘Delhi Belly 2’, but the final decision rests with producer Aamir Khan. Deo said he could begin work as soon as Khan calls him.
