When Sanjay’s daughter Trishala spoke about his time in jail

When Sanjay Dutt's daughter Trishala spoke about her feelings when he went to jail: 'People expected me to cry publicly'

Sanjay Dutt had gotten married to Richa Sharma in 1987. But as destiny would have it, he lost Richa to a brain tumour in 1996. This was just a few years after his mother Nargis passed away due to cancer and he went through emotional turmoil. Sanjay and Richa have a daughter Trishala but soon after Richa’s death, she moved to US and stayed with her maternal grandparents. However, Trishala has been in touch with Sanjay and one also has seen her posting pictures with him. Once, she had opened up on what she went through when Sanjay Dutt was in jail. The actor was sentenced to serve six years in prison in Pune in 2013. In an interview, Trishala spoke about how she had to remain strong during this time. She had told Hindustan Times, “When he went to jail, and I knew I wasn’t going to hear regularly from him for the next two-three years, that’s when I realised that it’s time to grow up. Yes, I was sad, but I had to be strong for my family and myself.”

Trishala Dutt’s cryptic post on toxic parenting raises eyebrows, Fans wonder if everything’s alright

She further added, “I’m not a child anymore, and I think some people forget that, and expected me to cry publicly, because everyone has seen me in my baby stages while I was growing up in Bollywood, but that’s not who I am anymore. Tough situations really strengthen you as a person.”Trishala has always spoken fondly about her father and expressed love towards him. But her recent cryptic note led to speculations about her relationship with him. She is a psychotherapist and thus, advocates strongly about mental health on social media. Her post read, “You’re allowed to choose your mental health over preserving the family image. Because ‘family’ is not a free pass to mistreat, manipulate, or guilt-trip you. You DO NOT owe continued access to anyone who keeps hurting you even if they raised you. When a parent cares more about how the family appears to the world than how it actually feels to live in it, that’s a problem.”This led to speculations about her relationship and bonding with Sanjay. Meanwhile, after Richa’s death, Sanjay was married to Rhea Pillai but they got divorced. He later married Maanayata and they make a happy family now. They have twins who were born in 2010, a boy and a girl, Shahraan and Iqra
