Dubai road crash

The bodies of three Telangana workers who died in a road accident on Dubai’s Emirates Road are expected to be repatriated to India within the next two days after the completion of legal and documentation formalities, Khaleej Times reported. The workers were among seven people killed in the June 8 crash involving a minibus carrying labourers and a truck that had reportedly stopped on the roadside following a technical malfunction.Among those killed were three workers from Telangana, three from Uttar Pradesh and one Sri Lankan national. Nine others sustained injuries in the accident, according to Dubai Police.

Telangana MLA visits Dubai to assist families

Telangana MLA Medipally Sathyam, who represents the Choppadandi constituency in Karimnagar district, travelled to Dubai to coordinate efforts for the victims’ families.Sathyam said he met officials at the Indian Consulate and other authorities to help expedite the repatriation process.“I came here to support the families and ensure all procedures are completed at the earliest.Officials have been very cooperative, and we expect the remaining formalities to be completed soon,” he told Khaleej Times. He noted that the deceased workers belonged to economically weaker families and that relatives in India were being regularly updated about the developments.

Community groups coordinate with consulate

Dr SV Reddy, president of Telugu Rasamayi UAE and NRI Cell convenor of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) in Dubai, said community organisations were working closely with the Indian Consulate and the victims’ families. He said the three deceased workers were from Telangana’s Karimnagar district and that efforts were underway to complete all paperwork required for the transfer of the bodies.“The families are in constant touch with us regarding the documentation process. Once the bodies arrive in India, the last rites are expected to be conducted the same day,” Reddy said.

Injured worker remains under treatment

According to Reddy, one worker from Telangana who was injured in the crash continues to receive treatment at Rashid Hospital in Dubai. The accident has prompted community organisations, elected representatives and Indian authorities to extend assistance to the affected families.

Indian Consulate expresses condolences

Following the accident, the Indian Consulate in Dubai expressed grief over the loss of lives and assured support to those affected.“Deeply saddened by the tragic road accident in Dubai that claimed the lives of several Indian workers. Our officials visited the hospital, met the injured Indians, and are working closely with local authorities to provide all possible assistance and support,” the consulate said in a post on X. It also conveyed condolences to the bereaved families and wished a speedy recovery to those injured.Dubai Police said preliminary investigations indicated that the truck had stopped on the road because of a technical fault.Brigadier Juma Salem bin Suwaidan, Director of the General Department of Traffic at Dubai Police, said the minibus driver allegedly failed to maintain a safe distance and crashed into the stationary truck from behind.
