‘Karuppu’ OTT release: Suriya wins praise for powerful turn

'Karuppu' OTT release: Netizens praise Suriya’s performance, R J Balaji gets lauded

Following its successful theatrical release, ‘Karuppu’ is now available on OTT platforms for audiences to rewatch from home. Featuring Suriya as the protagonist, the movie directed by RJ Balaji is among the year’s most successful Tamil productions. The moment it was released on OTT, various social media handles filled with viewer responses. Many who missed the theatrical release have now watched it online.

Suriya’s screen presence emerges as the biggest highlight

A large number of people appreciated Suriya’s acting skills and screen presence. Several fans felt that his expressions and intense look carried many of the film’s biggest moments. Some viewers wrote that even in a commercial entertainer, Suriya delivered a powerful performance that stood out from start to finish. Others appreciated how RJ Balaji introduced the character and built up key scenes around the actor. Many social media posts described Suriya as the film’s strongest asset and the main reason for its wide appeal.

Viewers praise the first half but share different opinions on the second half

The audience response has been largely mixed regarding the film’s overall screenplay. Many viewers enjoyed the opening portions, character introductions and the story setup of ‘Karuppu’. The first half of the film was appreciated for its pace and interesting moments. However, some fans felt the story slowed down in the middle, before picking up again in the climax. Some viewers also said that some characters could have been better developed. Many agreed with these views, noting the film was still entertaining enough for a one-time watch.

Music and storyline trigger debate among OTT audiences

While quite a few fans enjoyed the thrilling fight scenes and the emotional parts, some were not completely impressed with the movie. While some parts of the movie were appreciated, others pointed out weaknesses in the script. Similarly, while the background score by Sai Abhyankkar received good comments for being energetic, others found it too loud. Despite differences in opinion, ‘Karuppu’ has been getting attention on social media platforms. Already having earned more than Rs 300 crores at the box office, the movie is now gaining popularity through OTT channels.
