Hugh Jackman preps for new role in Ridley Scott’s ‘Treasure Island’: To play Pirate Long John Silver

After his big success with ‘The Sheep Detectives’ and his upcoming project ‘The Death of Robin Hood’, Hugh Jackman is already gearing up for more work. As per a recently released the famed actor is all set and ready to join director Ridley Scott for his next big film titled ‘Treasure Island.’ Here is what we know so far about the project.

Hugh Jackman joins ‘Treasure Island’ cast

A direct adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson’s 1883 novel, ‘Treasure Island’ has been creating quite the buzz ever since the news was initially announced. Now, Jackamn, who has played titular roles in some of the biggest franchises is all set to take over the role of another iconic character, as reported by Variety. The actor has been confirmed to take over the role of Pirate Long John Silver.The project will be directed by Ridley Scott, who has worked on films such as ‘Blade Runner’, ‘Prometheus’, and ‘Kingdom of Heaven’, while the script is being prepped by writer Jack Thorne, who is also behind the script for the award winning show, ‘Adolscence.’

‘Treasure Island’ is one of the most famous classic tales of all times, and over the years, has been remade into different forms. The premise of the story revolves around Jim Hawkins after he embarks on a journey to find Captain Flint’s long lost treasure. Taking a voyage on his ship, Hispaniola, the man embarks on a dangerous journey to get his hands on a treasure that has been rumored to be lost for decades.On the work front, Hugh Jackman last appeared in ‘The Sheep Detectives’, a sheep hearder who is murdered in the middle of the night. This leaves it up to his herd to solve the crime before its too late. Beyond that, he will next be starring in ‘The Death of Robin Hood’, which will be released in theatres worldwide on June 19.
