The animated series ‘Devil May Cry’ has officially been greenlit for a third and final season, bringing the show’s wider story to a planned conclusion. Showrunner Adi Shankar confirmed the renewal and revealed that the three-season structure was always the intention, describing the project as a “movie trilogy disguised as a television series” from the very beginning. The series originally debuted in 2025, with the second season launching in May 2026. Both seasons have spent a combined four weeks on the Top 10 English language TV chart.
What Adi Shankar said about the third season
In a letter penned by Shankar, the showrunner explained the broader creative vision behind the series. “For those of you who have been paying attention to the episode names, I have been showing you the structure the entire time,” he said. “This was always Dante’s ‘Divine Comedy’ with guns and a red coat. Season 1 was ‘Inferno.’ Season 2 was ‘Purgatorio.’ Season 3 will be ‘Paradiso.’ These three seasons make up ‘The Force Edge Saga.’ Since its inception, ‘The Force Edge Saga’ was designed as a movie trilogy disguised as a television series.”
