Quote of the day by Zendaya

Quote of the day by Zendaya: ‘Don't try so hard to fit in, and certainly don't try so hard to be different, just try hard to be you’

There are times in life when one may feel forced to conform to what society expects from you, chipping away slowly at who you really are. Today’s quote from Zendaya tackles this thought and instead focuses on how you should try hard at being yourself and honing your skills instead of the other way around. She said, “Don’t try so hard to fit in, and certainly don’t try so hard to be different; just try hard to be you.”

Quote of the day by Zendaya

“Don’t try so hard to fit in, and certainly don’t try so hard to be different; just try hard to be you.”This insightful quote from ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ star is from her advice book for tweens, titled ‘ Between U and Me: How to Rock Your Tween Years with Style and Confidence.’ Published by the actress in 2013, the book is an advice and self-help guide that she wrote alongside Sheryl Berk. Meant for young girls, the book acts as a tell-all for personal advice about life, along with wisdom and encouraging words on how to navigate life at such a young age.Read ahead to know more about what the quote means.

What does the quote mean?

Zendaya writes about not falling for conformity in today’s day and age, when everyone is so competitive and wishes to fit in, regardless of whether it aligns with their persona or not. She writes about not trying to fit in, rather focusing on yourself and your attributes first. When you try to blend into a crowd, you end up covering who you truly are, what your interests, opinions, and personality are, just to get approval. The ‘Euphoria’ star points out that this can get exhausting since you will always be covering who you truly are and will never be able to be true to yourself.Instead, she cites that “just try hard to be you”, encouraging the fact that there is nothing wrong with being who you really are, and that you should be putting in effort on honing your abilities, your skillsets, your uniqueness, rather than trying to push it into a mold that does not fit, in the name of conformity. All in all, the quote is about being true to who you are and working on gaining enough confidence that you are happy with yourself. Zendaya cites this quote that being unique and separate from the crowd is not a wrong thing, and that you do not have to force yourself to become something you are not just to ‘fit in.’
