Rhea Chakraborty says she reached out to Aryan Khan during his drug case

Rhea Chakraborty reached out to Aryan Khan during his drug case: 'When I saw what he was going through, it took me back'

Actress Rhea Chakraborty went through a tough time after Sushant Singh Rajput’s demise. While she was under scanner and also was in jail for sometime, in a recent interview, she has opened up on that phase. Rhea and her brother Showik were implicated by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in 2020. During a recent conversation, Rhea also spoke about reaching out to Aryan Khan when he found himself at the center of a media storm years later.Drawing parallels between their experiences, Rhea revealed that watching Aryan go through a similar ordeal brought back painful memories. She said, “I did. When I saw what Aryan was going through, it took me back because it was spectacularly similar. In fact, more than my story, it looked a lot like Showik’s story. They also have a resemblance. It was very, very hard to watch. I did not speak to the media many times, and I still do not.” The actress also reflected on the people who stood firmly by her side during those turbulent years, despite facing criticism themselves. Speaking about her close circle of friends, Rhea said, “I had a bunch of close friends who stood by me. At the time, it was not cool to support me. Anyone who supported me used to get trolled and lose job opportunities. It was miserable for them. Shibani, Nidhi, Anisha, Samisha, and Anusha, my girlfriends, really held fort.”Apart from her friends, Rhea credited actors Saqib Saleem and Huma Qureshi for being a pillar of strength for her family, particularly when both she and her brother Showik were behind bars. Recalling their support, she shared, “Saqib supported my parents a lot when Showik and I were in jail. I have been blessed to have these people in my life. If you have one true friend, that is enough to go through anything.”Speaking about her current outlook on public attention, Rhea admitted that she now prefers to stay away from unnecessary interactions and scrutiny. “I do not want people to ask me anything. If you see me on the road, ignore me. Act like I am not there and just go.”Rhea’s life changed dramatically after Sushant Singh Rajput’s death in June 2020. As his then-girlfriend, she found herself at the center of a highly publicized investigation and faced relentless media attention. In September 2020, the Narcotics Control Bureau arrested her after officials recovered WhatsApp chats allegedly linked to drug peddlers. Although she was later granted bail, the case had a lasting impact on both her personal and professional life, with travel restrictions remaining in place for an extended period.
