‘Toy Story 5’: Cast talks about children’s phone addiction

'Toy Story 5': Cast talks about children's phone addiction; Tom Hank says, 'strike terror into the heart'

Tom Hanks, the veteran actor who is renowned for his experimental filmography, opened up about the terror of mobile phones and children’s addictions to the small screens. Discussing the plot of the upcoming film ‘Toy Story 5,’ the 69-year-old actor stated that phones have defined a generation technologically, and people have poured everything into them. Here’s a closer take on the cast of ‘Toy Story 5’ talking about the technology and the side effects.

Tom Hanks and Tom Allen share their insights

In the upcoming film ‘Toy Story 5,’ Woody, Lightyear, and Jessie find themselves competing with a new rival, a frog-shaped tablet called Lilypad. The plot revolves around how they feel threatened to be relevant, as Bonnie finds a new device interesting. “A moment in the movie where we look out on the cityscape, and we see that blue glow of a phone in bedrooms and whatnot, and it does strike terror into the heart,” Tom Hanks said in a conversation with the BBC.Meanwhile, Tim Allen recalled how his granddaughter struggled to look at the silver screen when they went to watch a movie. As the stories with a beginning, middle, and end are often told in seconds, he stated that children tend to lose their patience. “She actually looked at a motion picture and went, ‘I get it! He’s going to be the villain, and they’re going to do this,’” he said in the interview. However, he acknowledged the struggles with new technology and resonated with his time. “As soon as I said ‘put that phone down’, I remember my parents going ‘turn the music off,’” he said.
