THIS actress recalls spookiest nights at a haunted house

THIS 80s actress once moved into a 'haunted house' in Juhu: 'Every night I would feel someone was trying to choke me'

Watching a horror movie on the big screen and living it in the confined space of four walls are two very different things. One might feel suffocated when watching ‘Conjuring,’ or get chills down to the spine while enjoying ‘Haunting Of The Bly Manor,’ but the feeling of someone choking you in your sleep is one of the scariest things to experience. And this experience was lived by none other than Bollywood’s ‘Dream Girl’ Hema Malini.

When Hema Malini narrated the tale of her haunted house, where she felt someone choking her in her sleep

This incident traces back to the time when Hema Malini was very new to Bollywood. After debuting in Hindi cinema, she shifted into a bungalow in Juhu with her family, unaware that it was a haunted house.

Narrating the horrifying incident in the 2018 Reddif interview, Hema Malini recounted that all this happened after Subodh Mukherji signed her for ‘Abhinetri,’ while she was still shooting for ‘Sapnon Ka Saudagar’ (1968). “We shifted from Ananthaswami’s house to Manavendra Apartments in Bandra. It was a tiny flat which Bhanu Athaiya used to visit for dress trials. Finally, when we did move to a bungalow in Juhu, on 7th Road, it turned out to be haunted,” said the actress. She continued that every night in the house was a nightmare for her. The actress said, “Every night I would feel someone was trying to choke me; I used to have difficulty breathing. I would sleep with my mummy, and she noticed how restless I used to be. If this had happened only once or twice, we would have ignored it, but it happened every night.” That’s when the actress and her family decided to buy their own apartment.

When Hema Malini moved into a new house

After experiencing all the paranormal activities, Hema Malini and her family shifted to another house. With this new purchase, she became neighbours with actor Biswajit Chatterjee. She converted the garage of her house into her dance rehearsal hall and continued her artistic endeavors.
