BENGAL POLITICAL STORM: BJP Rejects TMC Defection Buzz, Says ‘Doors Are Closed’ to Turncoats

Political tensions in West Bengal have intensified after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) responded sharply to ongoing speculation about possible unrest and defections within the Trinamool Congress (TMC). Amid reports of internal disagreements and discussions surrounding the future of several TMC leaders, senior BJP figures have signaled that the party is not looking to absorb leaders from the ruling camp. Reacting to the political chatter, Samik Bhattacharya stated that the BJP would not allow what he described as the “Trinamool-isation” of the party. His remarks come at a time when rumors of factionalism and dissatisfaction within the TMC have dominated political discussions in the state. Bhattacharya also launched a broader attack on the ruling party, claiming that the TMC is facing growing political challenges and public dissatisfaction. He argued that internal disputes within the party have become increasingly visible and suggested that the state’s political landscape is undergoing a significant shift ahead of future electoral contests. The BJP leader’s comments are being viewed as an attempt to distance the party from speculation that disgruntled TMC leaders could automatically find a place within the BJP. Political analysts believe the statement reflects the BJP’s effort to project organizational discipline while maintaining pressure on its principal rival in West Bengal. Meanwhile, the Trinamool Congress has not officially acknowledged any major internal crisis, and no large-scale defections have been confirmed. However, recent developments, leadership meetings, and public statements from leaders across the political spectrum have kept the issue at the center of Bengal’s political discourse.
