Mumbai residents have received another blow from rising costs as the price of CNG has been increased by ₹2 per kilogram. Following the hike, the retail price of CNG in Mumbai has risen from ₹84 to ₹86 per kilogram. The revised rates are also applicable in nearby areas, including Thane and Navi Mumbai. The increase is expected to impact more than 12 lakh vehicles that run on CNG in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. Auto-rickshaw drivers, taxi operators, and private cab services may face higher operating costs, which could eventually lead to increased fares for passengers. Experts believe the price hike could put additional pressure on household budgets, especially for commuters who rely heavily on taxis and auto-rickshaws for daily travel. Rising fuel costs may also affect the prices of goods and services, as transportation expenses increase. The latest revision adds to the financial burden on consumers already dealing with inflation and higher living costs.
