Dhanashree jokes about her divorce: ‘Jo mujhe pyar milne…’

Dhanashree Verma shares she can't say she loves gold after divorce from Yuzvendra Chahal: 'Jo pyar milne vala hoga vo bhi...'

Dhanashree Verma, recently seen on the new reality show, subtly addressed the ‘gold digger’ label she was subjected to following her divorce from cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal. The streaming platform has shared the promo clip of the show in which Verma can be seen responding to a co-contestant’s comment. The video has gone viral on the internet.

Dhanashree Verma reacts to ‘gold digger’ label

The clip showcased that, on the show, contestants were paired up and asked to choose between a gold briefcase (worth Rs 2 lakh) and a silver one (worth Rs 1 lakh). Paired with actor Arjun Bijlani, Dhanashree heard him say, “Dekho mujhe diamond, silver thoda suit nahi karta. Mujhe gold suit karta hai (look, diamonds and silver don’t suit me. Gold suits me).”Her response, however, was full of irony and a direct reference to the online hate she received after her divorce from Yuzvendra Chahal. “Ye line toh main bol nahi sakti. Agar maine ye line bol di toh jo mujhe pyaar milne vala hoga vo bhi nahi milega (I cannot say this line. If I say this line, I won’t even get the love that I am going to get),” she quipped.

The divorce and hate

Dhanashree and Yuzvendra Chahal got married in December 2020, and their divorce was granted by mutual consent in February 2025. The final decree was granted on March 20, 2025. During the entire process, Dhanashree was widely trolled and labeled a “gold digger” online. However, things went to the next level when the cricketer was clicked wearing a T-shirt that read “Be Your Own Sugar Daddy” on the day of their final court hearing. Netizens took it as an indirect jab at his ex-wife.Later, on a podcast, Chahal stated that he wore the T-shirt to send a message as “something happened from the other side.” Following the same, Dhanashree reacted to the incident on another podcast, stating, “Are bhai, WhatsApp kar deta. T-shirt kyun pehna hai? (He could’ve just sent a WhatsApp message. Why wear the T-shirt?)”
