Sanjay Dutt has approached Rajkumar Santoshi to direct ‘Khalnayak Returns’, the sequel to his iconic 1993 blockbuster ‘Khal Nayak’. Santoshi confirmed that talks are underway, saying a collaboration is very much on the cards. Original director Subhash Ghai, who was moved by Dutt’s heartfelt letter from jail, will stay on as creative guide.

It could be ‘Khal Nayak 2’ or any other film. Even if it is Khal Nayak 2, it is fine,” the director said, making it clear that a collaboration is very much on the cards.

Ghai said that the sequel would need a good and strong director to lead the film, but he also made it clear that he would stay involved and help guide the project creatively. Dutt, on the other hand, spoke very highly of Ghai, calling him his mentor and saying that making this film without him would not be possible at all.
