BREAKING: Mumbai Goregaon society faces row over cattle sacrifice permission, BJP protests reported

A controversy has erupted in Mumbai’s Goregaon area after a dispute surfaced over alleged permission for keeping cattle and carrying out sacrificial activities within a residential society premises. The issue centers around a temporary structure erected inside the Marigold Society vicinity, where around 15 to 18 cattle are reportedly being kept ahead of a religious practice linked to animal sacrifice. According to local residents, the presence of the cattle and the arrangements made inside the residential complex have triggered strong objections. Residents claim that such activities should not be conducted in a densely populated housing society, especially considering the proximity of schools, religious institutions, and other public spaces. They argue that the setup raises concerns about hygiene, public safety, and community harmony. On the other hand, those associated with the arrangement claim that necessary permissions have been obtained from the municipal authorities for keeping the cattle and conducting the ritual activity. This claim has further intensified the dispute, as residents and local representatives question the process through which such permission was granted in a residential zone. The matter escalated after a local political representative from the Bharatiya Janata Party reportedly raised objections and submitted a complaint to the ward office, demanding review and cancellation of the alleged permission. The issue has now drawn administrative attention, and civic officials are expected to examine whether the permissions align with zoning regulations and municipal guidelines. As tensions rise between residents and organizers, the situation highlights broader debates around the use of residential spaces for religious practices, regulatory oversight by civic bodies, and balancing community sentiments with permitted activities. Authorities are currently being urged to intervene and clarify the legality of the arrangements to prevent further escalation.
