Amid rocky days in the India-US relations, political lobbyist Jason Miller – whose firm has been hired by New Delhi to strengthen its ties with the Donald Trump administration – met the American President at the White House.

Miller leads the lobbying company SHW Partners LLC, which the Indian government hired in April this year at a monthly fee of $150,000.

While Miller did not reveal the purpose of his meeting with Trump, the meeting is significant as India and the US have seen a new low in bilateral relations over 50% tariffs imposed by the American President on most Indian goods. Bilateral Trade Agreement between the two countries was also being negotiated since Trump returned to the White House.

Miller posted a picture of himself meeting Trump on X and said that he had a “fantastic week” in Washington.

“Fantastic week in Washington with so many friends being in town, topped off of course by having the opportunity to stop in and see our President in-action! Keep up the great work,” he wrote on X.

Miller, Trump’s close ally, is officially registered as a foreign agent for India in Washington. Public records show that he has lobbied on behalf of the Indian government in the US, Hindustan Times reported.

“SHW will provide strategic counsel, tactical planning, and government relations assistance on policy matters before the US Government, the US Congress, state governments, academic institutions, think tanks, and any other relevant stakeholders as required,” the firm he leads said on April 24, according to the report.
