‘Fanaa’ clocks 20 years: Kajol reflects on filming movie in minus 27 degrees in Poland

Kajol marked 20 years of ‘Fanaa’ by looking back at one of the film’s toughest shoots. She also remembered wearing a thin chiffon salwar kameez on a frozen lake while Aamir Khan had a thick jacket for the shoot.

Kajol remembers ‘Fanaa’ shoot in Poland

According to ANI, Kajol shared the memory while reflecting on ‘Fanaa,’ which released in 2006 and starred her opposite Aamir Khan. The film brought the two actors together in a romantic drama directed by Kunal Kohli. Kajol played Zooni, a visually impaired Kashmiri woman, while Aamir played Rehan, a tourist guide with a dangerous secret.Kajol called Zooni special and wrote that the role stayed with her because she had to be herself without glasses. She also spoke about the harsh weather during the song shoot. She wrote, “20 years to Fanaa.. my daughter was 2 and a half years old”, she wrote, adding, “what I remember most was Poland in all its glory.. -27 degrees Celsius, beautiful forests and sleds.. used on sidewalks .. ! And off course the fact that I wore a thin salwar kameez while most everyone else was dressed in goose down. . what a blast from the past!”

Kajol on scrapped ‘Fanaa’ song

Kajol also revealed that the song filmed in Poland did not make it to the final version in that form. The team later scrapped and reshot it in Mumbai. She called that detail the “cherry on top” of the experience. She also praised women actors for shooting in difficult conditions to maintain their on-screen appearance. Her post drew attention from fans who remembered ‘Fanaa’ for its music, performances, and Kajol’s comeback to full-fledged film roles after a break.’Fanaa’ told the story of Zooni and Rehan, whose love story shifts into betrayal and tragedy after Rehan’s truth comes out. The film also starred Rishi Kapoor, Kirron Kher, and Tabu in key roles. Its soundtrack by Jatin-Lalit became popular, especially ‘Chand Sifarish’ and ‘Mere Haath Mein.’
