Fuel price hikes are once again putting pressure on citizens, especially in major cities like Mumbai and Patna. In Mumbai, petrol prices have risen from around ₹103 per litre on May 1 to nearly ₹111 per litre now, marking the fourth increase in a short span. Residents say the continuous rise is making life difficult for middle-class families, with many unable to fill their fuel tanks fully and forced to rely on public transport or reduce usage. While some citizens expressed frustration and loss of trust in government promises, others admitted they have no option but to accept the rising costs due to daily travel needs. In Patna, similar reactions were seen among drivers and tractor operators, who reported that the fuel hike is directly impacting their expenses and livelihoods. Many said inflation is increasing overall, and fuel price rise is affecting transportation and goods delivery. Public anger and concern are growing as repeated hikes continue to strain household budgets across regions.
