Fuel prices in India have seen another sharp increase, marking the fourth hike within just 11 days. Petrol prices have been raised by ₹2.61 per litre, while diesel prices have increased by ₹2.71 per litre. Earlier hikes were recorded on May 15 (around ₹3.19), May 20 (nearly 90 paise), and May 23 (around 90 paise), indicating a continuous upward trend in fuel costs. Overall, petrol and diesel prices have surged significantly over this short period, contributing to growing concerns over inflation and rising daily expenses for the common public. Reports suggest that fuel prices have increased by nearly 7.5% in the last 11 days. While domestic consumers are feeling the pressure, comparisons with global fuel markets suggest that the rise in India is relatively moderate. However, the repeated hikes are still impacting transportation costs and household budgets, making inflation a major concern across the country as fuel remains a key driver of overall price levels.
