Anushka Shetty’s eagerly awaited action crime drama ‘Ghaati’ had a good start at the box office and has been doing decent business despite facing competition from other films released on the same weekend. Directed by Krish Jagarlamudi, the film took an estimated Rs 2 crore on its opening day primarily from the Telugu belt. But on the second day of its theatrical run, the collection fell to about Rs 1.49 crore, which gives ‘Ghaati’ about Rs 3.49 crore over the first two days as per trade analyst Sacnilk.Anushka’s fierce new avatar had drawn audience curiosity, especially after the trailer presented her in a raw, rustic role.

Theatre occupancy

On Saturday, ‘Ghaati’ had 23.06% occupancy in Telugu theatres. The film had a rough start with Saturday morning shows at only 16.17%, but they improved for the night with an occupancy figure of 29.66%. The film’s performance in Tamil Nadu was much lower, achieving a 19.18% share across all Tamil Nadu shows. The Saturday morning shows recorded 11.86% occupancy and increased slightly for the afternoon shows, with a 24.96% occupancy. For Saturday evening shows, Ghaati occupied 23.13%, while Saturday night shows recorded 16.75%. Anushka leads the film, supported by a strong ensemble cast including Vikram Prabhu, Ramya Krishnan, Jisshu Sengupta, Jagapathi Babu, Larissa Bonesi, and Chaitanya Rao.

About ‘Ghaati’

The film is set in the Eastern Ghats region of the Andhra-Odisha border and revolves around the lives of the marginalised tribal community, the “Ghaatis,” who are used as labourers in a rampant cannabis smuggling operation run by powerful crime lords.Sivakarthikeyan’s ‘Madharaasi’, which was released on the same day as Anushka’s ‘Ghaati’ collected an estimated Rs 11.75 crore on the second day of its release.DISCLAIMER: The box office numbers in this article are compiled from our proprietary sources and diverse public data.
