Ramesh on Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Ha’ controversy

Ramesh Taurani OPENS UP on 'Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai' controversy, ‘everything has been sorted’

Ramesh Taurani broke his silence on the controversy surrounding ‘Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai’ and Vashu Bhagnani, assuring the dispute will not affect the film’s release. Bhagnani alleged songs from his films were used without permission, saying, “My fight is about justice and ethics.” The film releases on June 5, 2026.

Producer Ramesh Taurani has broken his silence on the controversy surrounding ‘Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai’ and veteran producer Vashu Bhagnani. Taurani made it clear that the matter is well in hand and assured that it will have no bearing on the film’s promotions or its scheduled release.

Ramesh Taurani says ‘Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai’ release will not be affected

When questions about the legal notice linked to the dispute came up at the trailer launch event of the film, Taurani did not shy away from addressing them directly. He was composed and confident as he spoke, making it clear that things were already being taken care of. “There is no problem in this. Whatever we had, has been sorted,” he said, firmly ruling out any possibility of the film’s promotions or release being affected. He went on to add, “And whatever comes next will also be sorted. So, there is no problem. And it’s a sub judice matter. So, we are handling it,” leaving little room for any further speculation.

What is the controversy surrounding ‘Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai’

The controversy started when Vashu Bhagnani alleged that songs from one of his films were recreated and used without his permission. Bhagnani has made it clear that his fight is not about money, but about what is right and wrong.

Vashu Bhagnani expresses disappointment over ‘Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai’ song dispute

Vashu did not hold back when it came to expressing his disappointment over David’s alleged involvement in recreating songs from his films for ‘Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai’. The fact that the film stars David’s own son Varun made the situation even more personal and painful for him. “At least mere paas aate aur kehte Vashu mai yeh gaana karna hai mera beta hai (He shouldn’t have taken these songs. (At least he should have come to me and told me what to do, my son is there)… How can you shoot the same songs for another producer? There has to be ethics in the industry…,” Bhagnani said. He also opened up about the deep personal bond he shares with David Dhawan, making it clear that the hurt goes far beyond any legal or financial dispute. “David is my brother. I have had lunch and dinner with him. I gave my life for him. Financially, it is fine, but emotionally, the whole family is broken,” he said.

Vashu Bhagnani dismisses technical glitch claim around ‘Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai’ trailer launch

Bhagnani also challenged the official reason given for the cancellation of the earlier trailer launch, dismissing the claim of a technical glitch entirely. He alleged that the real reason behind the sudden cancellation was the team’s awareness of the ongoing court proceedings and the fear of contempt of court. “They cancelled because they were aware about the contempt of court. Now they have gone and filed in the Patna court. They knew very clearly that if anything happened, it would be contempt of court. But they made an excuse by calling it a glitch,” he claimed.

Vashu Bhagnani says his fight is bigger than ‘Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai’ dispute

Despite the heated legal battle, Bhagnani made it clear that he has no intention of coming in the way of the film’s release. He said he remains open to finding a middle ground and resolving the matter through talks. “Remove my visuals, do a deal with me, or take permission, that’s all I am asking,” he said, keeping his demands simple and straightforward. Bhagnani also stressed that his fight is bigger than just this one dispute — it is about standing up for the rights of producers and protecting intellectual property across the industry. “My fight is not for me. My fight is for the public. It is about justice and ethics,” he said. He also pointed to the court’s interim protection granted to Puja Entertainment in its legal battle against Tips Music over the alleged unauthorised use of Bollywood intellectual property rights. Through his lawyer, Bhagnani made it clear that the court’s status quo order covers everything mentioned in the suit. “I believe they have not gone through the court order carefully. The order clearly states that the entire music rights, songs, and films mentioned in the plaintiff’s suit are covered under the ‘status quo’ order,” the lawyer stated.
