Suriya BREAKS silence on ‘Karuppu’ sequel

Suriya BREAKS silence on ‘Karuppu’ sequel at Chennai meet; Actor’s emotional speech after 200 crore success goes viral

Suriya’s ‘Karuppu’ is continuing its strong run in theatres and has become one of the most talked-about Tamil films of the year. Following the massive response from audiences across Tamil Nadu and overseas markets, Suriya attended a special meet-and-greet event with the press and fans in Chennai today. The actor looked emotional and thankful while speaking about the love the film has received. He said he personally wanted to meet everyone and thank them directly for making the film such a huge success.

Suriya credits RJ Balaji’s vision behind ‘Karuppu’ success

During his speech, Suriya spoke highly of director RJ Balaji and the team behind the film. He revealed that from the very first meeting, he strongly believed in RJ Balaji’s vision for ‘Karuppu’. “Everything went well from the first meeting itself. It was completely RJ Balaji’s vision,” Suriya said. He also thanked producers Prakash and Prabhu from Dream Warrior Pictures for supporting the film and making the right decisions throughout the project. The actor said the response for ‘Karuppu’ has been overwhelming, not just in Tamil Nadu but also in Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Ireland, Australia, the UK, the US, and Dubai. “When we get the same reaction everywhere, we feel we are doing something right,” he added emotionally.

Suriya responds to ‘Karuppu’ sequel question at Chennai event

One of the biggest highlights of the event came when Suriya was asked about the possibility of a sequel to ‘Karuppu’. Fans at the venue loudly cheered while raising the question. Smiling at the response, Suriya gave a short but exciting reply. “Let’s see, sir,” he said with a laugh, without confirming or denying the sequel plans. The actor also opened up about the effort that went into making the film, especially the climax portions and songs. He revealed that one important song was completed nearly five months after the film edit because the team believed it was necessary for the emotional impact of the climax. Suriya said everyone worked with complete passion and love for cinema, which is now reflecting in the audience response.

Suriya’s stylish appearance

Apart from his speech, Suriya’s appearance at the Chennai event also became a major talking point online. The actor arrived in a stylish black shirt paired with dark denim jeans and a neatly groomed beard, a look that impressed fans and photographers. Pictures and videos of the event were seen trending on social media almost immediately. Suriya also thanked every member of the ‘Karuppu’ cast and crew for their dedication and hard work. He shared that real happiness comes from making people happy and seeing audiences celebrate together inside theatres.

About ‘Karuppu’

‘Karuppu’ revolves around a corrupt court system in Chennai and how Karuppusamy steps in to solve the struggles and unanswered problems faced by ordinary people. Along with Suriya and RJ Balaji, the film also features Trisha Krishnan, Shivada, Indrans, Anagha Maya Ravi, and Swasika in important roles. The music and background score composed by Sai Abhyankkar have played a major role in elevating the film’s emotional and mass moments. Having collected over Rs 207 crore within just seven days, ‘Karuppu’ has already become Suriya’s highest-grossing film, and the blockbuster is now expected to cross the Rs 300 crore mark soon.
