Meryl Streep and Martin Short are painting London red with their cute romance. The ‘Only Murders In The Building’ stars have been making waves on social media for their date night spotting in the UK this week, as production on the next season of the hit series went on floors. Now, Meryl’s estranged husband, Don Gummer’s reaction to this romance has been revealed. Asource told the Daily Mail that Gummer is reportedly “at peace” with his ex-wife’s new romance. As per the report, the sculptor’s “perspective has changed” over time, especially since several years have passed since he and Streep parted ways. The former Hollywood golden couple secretly separated in 2017 after 45 years of marriage. However, news of their split was only made public in 2023. The couple share four children together.According to the report, Gummer would not have been able to get over the romance if it began immediately after the split. However, as “enough time has passed now that he’s genuinely at peace with it.” As per the report, he has also “come to terms with the end of his marriage.”The former couple is also said to be in a place of mutual respect, years after calling it quits on their marriage. As far as Meryl’s romance with Martin is concerned, the two were first linked together in early 2024, after they were spotted together at public events and outings. While at first the two were only said to be friendly co-stars, the two continued to make appearances together, including dinner outings and Broadway shows. They also sparked attention after holding hands at the Season 4 premiere of Only Murders in the Building in August 2024.Their co-star Steve Martin later added fuel to the rumours with a playful social media post suggesting he was the pair’s “third wheel.”Just last week, the couple was back in the news when a fan spotted them on a low-key dinner date before filming on the series could get underway. Multiple sources confirmed to Page Six that Streep and Short had been dating “for well over a year.” The actress reportedly couldn’t help but fall for Martin and that “She loves being around him.”
