The actress said the incident happened just before she was due to film a night sequence for ‘The Black Ball’. As she prepared for the shoot, she received unexpected information regarding her health. Recalling the moment, Penélope Cruz said, “When we were about to go out, I was putting on my wig, and they said, ‘Oh, apparently you have some brain aneurysm.’ I thought I was about to die. This is something that was totally surreal in my life.”The actress explained that the news came without warning and left her deeply shaken. For a brief period, she believed she was facing a serious medical emergency.
Doctors later gave her the all-clear

Fortunately doctors evaluated her condition and cleared her to continue working. In the film, Penélope Cruz plays Nene, a cabaret singer who has a meaningful role in the story.The actress explained that the size of a role has never influenced her choice of projects. Instead, she focuses on stories that connect with her emotionally and artistically.”I don’t base my decision on the number of minutes my character is in the script. I want to be part of things that are important, that speak to me. When I read this script, I discovered this fantastic story and I felt it would be wonderful to be part of something that’s even more important than just one more film.”Penélope Cruz said the film’s focus on LGBTQ+ experiences and social issues strongly appealed to her. The actress explained that themes of equality and fairness have always been important to her.”I have a very strong reaction towards anything that doesn’t seem fair.
