Juhi Chawla’s son Arjun Mehta graduates from Columbia university

Juhi Chawla's son Arjun Mehta graduates from Columbia university after her daughter Jahnavi Mehta

Actor Juhi Chawla has another reason to celebrate as her son, Arjun Mehta, has graduated from Columbia University, adding another academic achievement to the family’s proud milestones. Earlier in 2023, her daughter Jahnavi Mehta had also completed her studies at the prestigious Ivy League institution. Juhi shared glimpses from Arjun’s graduation ceremony in New York on Instagram. The video captured a memorable moment as Arjun’s name echoed through the convocation venue’s loudspeakers while family, friends and fellow graduates cheered him on. Dressed in Columbia University’s iconic light-blue graduation robe and cap, paired with a dark tie, Arjun walked confidently toward the stage amid loud applause and celebration from the crowd. As his name was announced, the atmosphere turned even more festive with whistles and cheers filling the packed outdoor venue. Arjun then crossed the stage and greeted a university official in traditional academic attire with a handshake, marking the completion of his educational journey. Sharing her happiness online, Juhi captioned the post, “Proud graduate of Columbia 🌟🎓😁”

The Mehta family has celebrated this accomplishment before. In 2023, Jahnavi graduated from Columbia University and also secured a spot on the institution’s prestigious Dean’s List. At the time, Juhi had posted a picture from Jahnavi’s graduation ceremony and simply written, “Proud and happy.” In an earlier interaction with News18, Juhi had opened up about Jahnavi’s impressive academic performance and deep interest in cricket. “One shouldn’t be praising one’s own kid, but she is a brilliant kid and boasts of a praiseworthy academic record. She did great in her International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) exams, too, and topped History in India. In IB, she topped her school. At Columbia University, she is on the Dean’s List,” Juhi had said. Speaking about her daughter’s passion for cricket, Juhi had added, “She’s so much into cricket! She lights up when she talks about cricket – players and the nitty-gritty of the sport. Sometimes I wonder where all this knowledge comes from! I find it very surprising. This is what she has chosen for herself, so I can’t really take the credit for it. It all comes rather organically to her.” Juhi had also earlier admitted that she felt relieved that Jahnavi did not choose acting as a profession. “I see many star kids trying to make it big in Bollywood. They are trying to be on the screen as actors and I feel it’s a lot of pressure on them. You don’t know if your next assignment, should you get it, will be successful. And then there is the scrutiny on social media. It’s all a lot to deal with,” she added.
