Vikram Bhatt is mourning the loss of his mother, Varsha Bhatt, who passed away at 85 due to a prolonged illness and multiple organ failure. The cremation took place on Saturday at the Versova crematorium. Known for his horror films, Bhatt recently discussed his autoimmune condition and depression, drawing inspiration from other celebrities who have shared their health struggles.

Vikram Bhatt is in mourning following the death of his mother, Varsha Bhatt, who passed away at the age of 85 on Saturday. The director-producer was seen in the city after her demise, visibly heartbroken, greeting the paparazzi with folded hands while keeping his grief private.

Cremation details

The filmmaker’s mother passed away on Saturday, September 6, and her cremation took place the same day at around 2:00 pm at the Versova crematorium. The news initially emerged through reports and was later confirmed by Bhatt’s team. While the family hasn’t officially disclosed the cause, it has been reported that she had been battling a prolonged illness and passed away due to multiple organ failure.

Early career in films

He joined the industry at the age of 14 when he assisted director Mukul Anand in the latter’s debut film, Kanoon Kya Karega. In 2008, he returned to the horror genre and delivered three films that were successful at the box office—1920, Shaapit and Haunted – 3D.Bhatt was gearing up for his next project, Haunted: Ghosts of the Past. Known for his distinctive style of horror, he has built a reputation as one of Bollywood’s leading experts in the genre.

Recent work

His most recent film, Tumko Meri Kasam, starred Anupam Kher, Esha Deol, Adah Sharma, and Ishwak Singh in lead roles. In a recent Pinkvilla interview, he opened up about his autoimmune condition and highlighted how celebrities like Deepika Padukone and Samantha Ruth Prabhu speaking about their health challenges inspire and encourage others. Vikram Bhatt revealed that he has long struggled with depression, which initially made him hesitant about having his wife, Shweta, in his life. He also shared that he has an autoimmune condition called axial spondyloarthritis, a form of arthritis where the bones gradually fuse, causing significant pain.
