Bengal Re-Poll: TMC Candidate Jahangir Khan Withdraws From Falta Seat

A major political development has emerged from West Bengal ahead of the crucial re-polling in the Falta Assembly seat, as Trinamool Congress (TMC) candidate Jahangir Khan has officially withdrawn his candidature. The sudden move has intensified political discussions in the state just before fresh voting scheduled for May 21. The Falta seat had witnessed massive controversy after allegations of irregularities and electoral misconduct surfaced during the earlier voting process. Due to multiple complaints and objections, election authorities had cancelled the polling results from the constituency. Counting was conducted for only 293 seats, while the Falta seat remained under scrutiny pending re-election. With re-polling now set to take place on May 21, Jahangir Khan’s withdrawal has added a dramatic twist to the political battle in the constituency. The reasons behind his decision have not yet been officially clarified, but the development is expected to trigger intense political reactions from opposition parties as well as within the ruling TMC camp. Political observers believe the Falta seat has now become one of the most closely watched battlegrounds in Bengal politics. The re-election will be seen as a crucial test of voter sentiment amid allegations of election-related irregularities and administrative lapses. Security arrangements are expected to remain tight during the fresh polling process to avoid any repeat of earlier controversies. Election officials are also likely to deploy additional monitoring teams and central forces to ensure smooth and fair voting in the constituency. The withdrawal of a major candidate at such a sensitive stage has significantly changed the electoral dynamics in Falta and could impact the final political equation in West Bengal.
