Sydney ranked among top 3 meeting destinations in Asia-Pacific

Sydney has been ranked among the top three meeting destinations in the Asia-Pacific region by global event technology provider Cvent, reinforcing the city’s position as a leading hub for international business events and conventions.

The rankings were announced during IMEX Frankfurt, one of the global meetings and events industry’s major trade shows. Singapore, Bangkok and Sydney secured the top three positions in the Asia-Pacific region, ahead of Tokyo, Seoul and Beijing.

Sydney also performed strongly in the hospitality category, with Hyatt Regency Sydney and Hilton Sydney ranking among the top five hotels in the Asia-Pacific region. Sheraton Grand Sydney Hyde Park also featured in the top ten.

According to Cvent, the rankings are based on sourcing and request-for-proposal activity generated through its event sourcing platforms, which handled more than USD 20 billion in group business in 2025.

Bharet Malhotra, Executive Vice President, Cvent, said:

“With more than USD 20 billion in group business sourced through Cvent’s platforms in 2025, these rankings reflect real market demand and planner sourcing trends.”

Sydney also retained the number one position in Australia in the latest International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) Rankings 2025.

The city secured more than 73 business events during the last financial year, attracting over 56,000 delegates and contributing approximately USD 236 million to the local economy. Events included the 76th International Astronautical Congress and the 5th World Congress of Women’s Shelters.

Amanda Lampe, CEO, Business Events Sydney, said Sydney’s global recognition reflected strong collaboration across the city’s tourism and events ecosystem.

“Sydney’s recognition as a Top 3 Meeting Destination in the Asia-Pacific reflects the strength of BESydney’s partnerships and the confidence planners place in our city to deliver outstanding business events,” she said.

She added that Sydney’s accessibility, safety, natural setting and First Nations cultural experiences continue to strengthen its appeal among international planners and delegates.

Business Events Sydney also highlighted growing interest in the city’s innovation precincts and immersive delegate experiences, including Indigenous cultural programmes and waterfront event venues.

The latest rankings further strengthen Sydney’s positioning as a key destination for international conventions, meetings and incentive travel in the Asia-Pacific market.
