While US President Donald Trump’s youngest child, Barron, typically maintains a low profile, media reports suggest the 19-year-old may be quietly playing a role in his parents’ policy and education initiatives—particularly those involving artificial intelligence (AI).

On Thursday, First Lady Melania Trump chaired a White House Task Force meeting focused on AI education. The meeting, attended by Education Secretary Linda McMahon and other key officials, was prompted by President Trump’s executive order to expand AI education across US schools, a move pointing towards the administration’s growing focus on emerging technologies.

During the meeting, McMahon made a light-hearted comment while interacting with the First Lady, hinting at Barron’s behind-the-scenes involvement.

“I think Barron is helping you with a little bit of this as well, and maybe charging you a little bit with that,” McMahon told Melania, according to a report in Irish Star.

In response, Melania smiled and nodded, offering no further elaboration. While the comment was brief, it hinted at Barron’s possible influence or advisory role in his mother’s AI-related efforts—despite his well-known preference for privacy.

In a statement released prior to the meeting, Melania emphasized the need for ethical and responsible integration of AI in education. “I predict AI will represent the single largest growth category in our nation during the Trump Administration,” the statement read.

“As leaders and parents we must manage AI’s growth responsibly. During this primitive stage, it is our duty to treat AI as we would our own children – empowering, but with watchful guidance. We are living in a moment of wonder, and it is our responsibility to prepare America’s children,” she added.

Both Melania and Donald Trump have spoken proudly of their son’s intellect in the past. The President has referred to Barron as a “very smart guy” with “unbelievable aptitude in technology.”

Barron had previously gained attention for reportedly advising his father on strategies to connect with younger voters during a campaign cycle, showcasing a growing awareness of digital and generational dynamics.

While speculation continues about whether Barron might enter politics or follow his father’s business legacy, Donald Trump hinted at another possibility during an interview with Fox News. “Maybe technology,” Donald Trump said when asked about his son’s future.

Despite being enrolled at New York University, Barron has reportedly not been seen on campus for several months.
