The automaker said the achievement reflects increasing awareness among Indian buyers around hybrid technology benefits such as improved fuel efficiency, lower emissions and ease of ownership, while also highlighting growing confidence in Toyota’s hybrid offerings.
Toyota currently offers hybrid models in India including the Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Innova HyCross, Camry Hybrid and Vellfire, catering to different customer segments.
“We are immensely proud to achieve the milestone of 3 lakh hybrid vehicle sales in India, reflecting the strong and growing customer trust in Toyota’s Self-charging Hybrid Electric technology,” said Sabari Manohar, Executive Vice President, Sales-Service-Used Car Business, Toyota Kirloskar Motor.
Toyota said its hybrid system combines a petrol engine with an electric motor and can operate in electric mode for a significant part of daily driving. The battery is charged through regenerative braking and engine power, eliminating the need for external charging.
The company also highlighted that it offers an 8-year hybrid battery warranty to strengthen customer confidence in the technology.
Globally, Toyota said it has sold over 38 million electrified vehicles, contributing to saving more than 197 million tonnes of CO₂ emissions, as part of its multi-pathway approach towards carbon neutrality.
