The Bengal Files’ fails to beat The Kashmir Files day 1 numbers

Vivek Agnihotri’s ‘The Bengal Files’ fails to beat ‘ The Kashmir Files’ day 1 numbers

Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri’s ‘The Bengal Files,’ based on the 1946 Noakhali riots, opened with ₹1.75 crore, a drop from ‘The Kashmir Files.’ This film is part of Agnihotri’s ‘Files’ trilogy, known for slow starts but significant growth. The director anticipates word-of-mouth to boost weekend collections, featuring a large cast and marking the end of the ‘Files’ series.

Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri’s socio-political drama The Bengal Files based on the Noakahli riots of 1946 based on the result of The Direct Action Day has earned Rs 1.75 crore from its day 1 collection as per Sacnilk. The collection is a sharp drop from the director’s last theatrical release The Kashmir Files which opened to Rs 3.5 crore collection. The Bengal Files is part of Vivek Agnihotri’s Files trilogy which started with The Tashket Files and he followed it up with The Kashmir Files. Made on the show string budget The Tashket Files had Rs 40 lakh collection but by the end of its theatrical run the film had minted over Rs 16 crore and was declared a superhit. Riding high on its success Vivek went on to tell the story of the Kashmir insurgency and that went on to become his biggest success till date earning more than Rs 250 crore at the box office. Coming back to The Bengal Files, it has been noticed about Vivek’s films that though they start on a low note, it is Day 2 which brings about the change and led them to super success and this has been proven in the two films from Files Trilogy. Tashkent’s collection jumped to Rs 80 lakh on day 2 and Kashmir’s collection reached Rs 8.50 crore. It would be interesting to see how Bengal Files’s word of mouth plays out over the weekend. Vivek in an interview mentioned that this would the last film of his ‘Files’ series and would be moving on to tell other stories from here on. The film features a stellar ensemble cast including Mithun Chakraborty, Pallavi Joshi, Darshan Kumar, Simrat Kaur, Anupam Kher, Saswata Chatterjee, Namashi Chakraborty, Rajesh Khera, Puneet Issar, Priyanshu Chatterjee, Dibyendu Bhattacharya, Sourav Das, and Mohan Kapur.DISCLAIMER: The box office numbers in this article are compiled from our proprietary sources and diverse public data.
