Trump-Xi Talks in Beijing: Donald Trump Praises ‘Special’ US-China Relationship

Donald Trump and Xi Jinping held high-level bilateral talks in Beijing, where both leaders highlighted the historical and cultural ties between the United States and China during a formal gathering attended by senior officials and delegates. Speaking during the event, Donald Trump praised the “special relationship” shared between the American and Chinese people and thanked President Xi for the warm welcome extended to him during the visit. Trump also reflected on centuries of cooperation and mutual respect between the two nations, citing historical examples including Chinese contributions to American railway construction and American efforts in supporting education and healthcare initiatives in China. During his address, Trump mentioned a commemorative stone tablet honoring George Washington that was gifted by Chinese admirers and later embedded in the Washington Monument, describing it as a symbol of mutual admiration between the two countries. The American President also formally invited Xi Jinping and First Lady Peng Liyuan to visit the White House on September 24, calling the diplomatic engagement “an amazing period of time.” Trump raised a toast to what he described as “rich and enduring ties” between the people of both nations. The bilateral discussions between Washington and Beijing are being closely watched globally amid ongoing geopolitical and economic developments. Analysts believe the meeting reflects efforts from both sides to maintain diplomatic communication despite strategic competition on multiple global issues. Visuals from the event showed a cordial atmosphere, with both delegations participating in formal exchanges and ceremonial interactions during the state visit in Beijing.
