Amitabh: ‘Jaya took care of Abhishek and Shweta completely’

Amitabh Bachchan regrets missing Abhishek Bachchan and Shweta Bachchan Nanda's childhood: 'Jaya took care of them completely'

Amitabh Bachchan has ruled Bollywood for nearly six decades, but behind the towering legacy lies a personal regret. On a recent episode of his quiz reality show Kaun Banega Crorepati, the actor admitted that despite all the success, he wishes he had spent more time with his children, Abhishek and Shweta Bachchan-Nanda, during their growing years. While interacting with a contestant, Bachchan recalled how his wife Jaya Bachchan took on the responsibility of raising the children while he remained consumed by work. “Our environment was very simple. Jaya would take care of the kids, and I would go to work,” he shared. “But there is one thing that I really regret, and that is I couldn’t spend time with my kids when they were little. I used to work from morning to night. When I would leave in the morning for work, they would be sleeping, and when I used to come back home, they would be sleeping. Jaya took care of them completely.”

Family traditions born from regret

The megastar added that this regret eventually led him to make a conscious decision. “Sometimes I wish that I could spend time with Abhishek and Shweta. But then it was decided that I will not work on Sunday, and it will be completely dedicated to my family. We used to make food for the kids and eat with them that day. Even today, we follow the same tradition that on every Sunday, the whole family sits together and has food together. ”

Bachchan’s enduring legacy

For the uninitiated, Amitabh Bachchan has been hosting Kaun Banega Crorepati for 23 years. The show is the official Hindi adaptation of the Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? franchise. At 82, the megastar continues to command immense energy and screen presence, giving his all to every project he takes on.

A family deeply rooted in cinema and tradition

Talking about his children, Abhishek Bachchan is a popular Bollywood star and married to Miss World–turned–superstar Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. They are parents to daughter Aaradhya Bachchan. Big B’s daughter Shweta Bachchan Nanda married businessman Nikhil Nanda at a young age and has largely stayed away from films. They are blessed with son Agastya Nanda and daughter Navya Naveli Nanda. Jaya Bachchan, meanwhile, famously stepped away from acting in the 1970s, even at the peak of her career, to dedicate herself to the family. Go to Source
