Tata Motors on Friday said it will pass on the full benefit of the recent GST rate reduction on passenger vehicles to its customers, effective 22 September 2025. The move will make the company’s range of cars and SUVs cheaper by up to ₹1.55 lakh.
The GST Council on Wednesday approved a rationalised structure with two slabs — 5 per cent and 18 per cent — for automobiles, replacing the earlier 28 per cent levy on most vehicles. A higher 40 per cent tax slab is also introduced for luxury goods.
Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd. and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd., said, “The reduction in GST on passenger vehicles is a progressive and timely decision that will make personal mobility more accessible for millions across India. Tata Motors will fully honour the intent of this reform by passing on the entire benefit of the reduction in GST to our customers.”
