Breaking: PM Modi Hails Somnath as Symbol of India’s Eternal Spirit at Amrit Mahotsav Celebration

Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered an emotional and spiritually charged address during the grand Amrit Mahotsav celebrations at Somnath Temple, marking 75 years of the temple’s modern-day consecration after Independence. Amid Vedic chants, devotional music, sacred rituals, and flower showers across the temple complex, the Prime Minister described Somnath as a timeless symbol of India’s resilience, spiritual consciousness, and civilizational continuity. Addressing devotees gathered at the sacred coastal pilgrimage site in Prabhas Patan, the Prime Minister said the celebrations were not merely commemorating a temple ceremony but represented a thousand-year journey of faith, courage, and cultural revival. Referring to Lord Shiva as eternal and beyond time, he said Somnath embodies the triumph of truth over destruction and stands as proof that India’s spiritual identity can never be erased. The Prime Minister recalled the historic reconstruction of the temple after Independence and praised Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel for leading the effort to rebuild Somnath as a symbol of national self-respect. He stated that while political Independence was achieved in 1947, the re-consecration of Somnath in 1951 announced to the world that India was reclaiming its ancient pride and cultural heritage. Reflecting on repeated invasions and destruction faced by the temple over centuries, the Prime Minister said Somnath represents the spirit of reconstruction emerging from devastation. He emphasized that the Amrit Mahotsav is not just a celebration of the past but an inspiration for the next thousand years of India’s journey. The event featured sacred Shiva chants, continuous recitation of the Panchakshari mantra, traditional performances, and ceremonial rituals, creating a deeply devotional atmosphere at one of Hinduism’s most revered shrines.
