Urvashi Rautela recalls awkward moment after mispronouncing Leonardo DiCaprio’s surname: ‘I really hope he never watches that interview’

Urvashi Rautela recently opened up about meeting Hollywood star Leonardo DiCaprio at Cannes 2025 and recalled how she felt extremely guilty after accidentally mispronouncing his surname in one of her earlier interviews.During a conversation with Galatta India, Urvashi spoke about interacting with international celebrities and shared that meeting Leonardo DiCaprio became a memorable yet awkward moment for her.‘I pronounced his surname very badly’Talking about the incident, Urvashi said she felt bad after incorrectly pronouncing the actor’s surname in an interview.“That’s true, I am the first Indian artist to be complimented by Leonardo DiCaprio. Mujhe is cheez ka bahut dukh hua ki maine unka surname bahut alag tareeke se pronounce kar diya tha,” she said.Recalling the moment further, the actress added, “In one of my interviews, I pronounced Leonardo DiCaprio as ‘Di Kebrio’. After that, I met him and he met me very sweetly and complimented me.”‘He doesn’t like meeting people’Urvashi further claimed that many people around Leonardo DiCaprio have often said that the actor is not someone who easily meets people or clicks pictures with everyone. “A lot of people who know him say that he doesn’t like meeting people, he doesn’t click pictures with anyone,” she shared.The actress admitted that after meeting him, she felt extremely emotional and guilty about the pronunciation mistake.“That was a moment in my life when I felt very sad, upset and very guilty that here I am meeting this person after saying his surname incorrectly,” Urvashi said.She further added, “I just really hope that he never watches that interview of mine in which I am pronouncing his surname in a very bad manner.”When the interviewer asked whether she had shared this with DiCaprio, Urvashi quickly replied, “Main chahti bhi nahi woh dekhe. Bilkul nahi chahti main. (I don’t even want him to see it. Absolutely not).”
