A major development has emerged in the killing of Shubhendu Adhikari’s personal assistant, Chandranath Rath, in Madhyamgram, North 24 Parganas. Newly surfaced CCTV footage shows his car moving towards home at night before the attack took place, reportedly just 200 meters away from his residence. According to the footage and initial investigation details, the attack appears to be highly planned. First, another vehicle allegedly blocked Chandranath Rath’s car on the road. Shortly after, bike-borne attackers approached and opened close-range fire on him inside the vehicle. He died on the spot, while his driver was critically injured and is undergoing treatment. The incident has triggered serious political tension in West Bengal. The BJP has alleged a political conspiracy and demanded strict action against the perpetrators, while the TMC has called for a CBI investigation. Police have intensified their probe after the CCTV breakthrough, treating the case as a possible targeted political killing.
