‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’: Christopher Nolan calls it ‘fabulous’

Christopher Nolan praises ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2,’ calls the Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway starrer sequel ‘fabulous’

‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’ has been making waves since it hit theatres on May 1, 2026, and the reviews keep coming in from the most unexpected corners. The latest to share his thoughts is Christopher Nolan, one of Hollywood’s most respected and detail-driven directors, who has now publicly weighed in on the long-awaited sequel. Twenty years after Anne Hathaway’s Andy Sachs walked away from Miranda Priestly’s office, the sequel returns to Runway magazine with Emily Blunt’s Emily Charlton now positioned as a rival amid digital upheaval.Christopher Nolan, the director behind ‘Oppenheimer’ and ‘The Dark Knight’ trilogy, recently appeared on ‘The Late Show With Stephen Colbert’ where he shared his thoughts on the sequel, his upcoming film ‘The Odyssey’, and made an unexpected detour into ancient Greek literature.

Christopher Nolan on Anne Hathaway and Emily Blunt in ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’

When host Stephen Colbert asked Nolan whether he had seen ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’, the director did not hold back. “I watched it last night. It was fabulous. With Emily Blunt as well. “Terrific,” he said. The comment carries added context given Nolan’s working relationship with Hathaway. A veteran of his films ‘Interstellar’ and ‘The Dark Knight Rises’, Hathaway is set to reunite with Nolan again in his upcoming epic ‘The Odyssey’, where she plays Penelope, the wife and queen of Ithaca.

Christopher Nolan compares Homer to the Marvel Cinematic Universe

During the same interview, Colbert noted that Tom Holland, Hathaway, and ‘The Odyssey’ co-star Robert Pattinson all have superhero blockbusters on their resumes. That observation led Nolan to draw a surprising but thoughtful comparison between Homer’s ancient Greek epics and today’s comic book franchises. Nolan noted that much of comic book culture, from Marvel to DC, traces its roots back to Homer’s epics. He also pointed out that Homer’s true identity remains unknown, likening him to the George Lucas of his era.

What to expect from Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Odyssey’?

‘The Odyssey’ is already shaping up to be one of the most anticipated blockbusters of summer 2026. Matt Damon takes on the role of Odysseus in a cast packed with major names, including Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Zendaya, Mia Goth, Jon Bernthal, Lupita Nyong’o, Charlize Theron, Elliot Page, and Benny Safdie. With Nolan’s stamp of approval now on record for ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’, the sequel has earned one of the more unexpected endorsements of its opening week.
