Tarur SC election results 2026: CPI(M)-led LDF Sumod wins Tarur SC seat by over 11900 votes

Sumod of CPI(M)-led LDF secures Tarur SC in Kerala’s Palakkad district,with 11910 votes, beating INC Subramanian KC.Designated as a Scheduled Caste reserved seat in Kerala’s Palakkad district, the Tarur Assembly constituency stands 57th among the state’s 140 legislative seats, integral to the Alathur Lok Sabha (SC) region. This SC seat draws over 170,000 voters from predominantly rural areas with significant Dalit populations, registering turnouts around 78 percent, encompassing grama panchayats like Kannambra, Kavasseri, Kottayi, and others in north Kerala’s agrarian lowlands. It reinforces CPI(M)’s commanding LDF presence, prioritizing SC welfare against UDF and BJP inroads in this post-delimitation stronghold. In the 2021 Kerala Assembly elections, CPI(M)’s P.P.

Election Results 2026

Sumod dominated with 67,744 votes at 51.58per cent, decisively beating INC’s K.A. Sheeba’s 43,213 votes (32.90per cent) by 24,531 votes amid 78.13per cent turnout. The 2016 result featured CPI(M)’s A.K. Balan securing around 67,000 votes (roughly 52per cent), triumphing over rivals by over 23,000 votes from nearly 165,000 voters, extending LDF’s unbroken hold since the seat’s 2011 creation. Heading into 2026, Tarur’s CPI(M) supremacy, rooted in land reforms and reservation benefits, faces UDF minority appeals and BJP’s consolidation efforts. Rural development and SC upliftment issues will dominate, positioning this LDF bastion as a key influencer in Alathur’s electoral matrix.
