Dhanashree takes subtle digs at Chahal after divorce

Dhanashree Verma takes subtle digs at Yuzvendra Chahal after divorce: 'Maine saare sport channels bandh kar diye hai'

Dhanashree Verma and cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal’s divorce after five years of marriage turned into a painful chapter for both. The controversy deepened when Chahal appeared in court wearing a T-shirt that read “Be Your Own Sugar Daddy.” Fans were quick to connect it to his ex-wife Dhanashree, and the cricketer later admitted it was his way of making one last statement before shutting that chapter of his life. Now, it seems Dhanashree has responded with her own shade through her upcoming show.

Dhanashree’s fiery lines in Rise and Fall promo

In a promo for her new show Rise and Fall, Dhanashree Verma is seen stepping into the role of a ruler. With her trademark sass, she declares, “Queen ko star banne ki zarurat nahi hai aur waise bhi interviewers ki line lagi padi hai. Pent house mein jitne bhi sports channels hai na, maine bandh kar diye hai.”In an earlier teaser for the show, she was also heard saying, “Trust toh mera bohot pehle toot chuka tha” (“My trust broke a long time ago”), which many perceived as a pointed reference to her marriage with Chahal.

“The divorce was confusing for me”

Speaking in an interview with Humans of Bombay, Dhanashree described the divorce as “confusing.” While she said she could handle trolling to an extent, it was her parents who suffered the most. She recalled how overwhelming it became at home—her mother broke down on several occasions, and her parents avoided picking up phones because of constant calls.Acknowledging Chahal’s stronger public position, Dhanashree credited her parents for being her biggest source of strength. They reminded her daily that walking out of the marriage was the right decision.Despite the media frenzy, online trolling and speculation, Dhanashree said she chose to focus on her work rather than react. She admitted that she is still in the process of healing but consciously decided that silence was her best response.
