'Raja Shivaji' box office collection Day 3 [LIVE]: Riteish Deshmukh starrer is inching towards the Rs 30 crore mark on first Sunday

Riteish Deshmukh’s ambitious project, ‘Raja Shivaji’, is currently running theatres and is receiving love from the audience. As the title suggests, the movie is based on the life of the Maratha warrior king, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The period drama recorded a historic opening for its Marathi version in cinemas. The star-studded cast and its performance have received praise from the cinegoers.

The Riteish Deshmukh starrer minted Rs 11.35 crore on its debut day in theatres. On Day 2, the movie raked in Rs 10.55 crore. Now, according to the Sacnilk report, the historical drama is currently running across 1,785 shows and has collected Rs 1.75 crore as of now. The numbers are expected to increase as the day progresses. This has pushed the total India gross collections to Rs 28.13 crore, while the total India net earnings stand at Rs 23.65 crore.

Box office competition

Riteish Deshmukh’s passion project has been facing competition from Akshay Kumar’s ‘Bhooth Bangla’ and the Junaid Khan and Sai Pallavi starrer ‘Ek Din’. Not just that, ‘Raja Shivaji’ is sharing its show slots with the Hollywood releases like ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’ and ‘Michael’.

Star cast and Salman Khan’s special appearance

The stellar star cast of the film includes Riteish Deshmukh, Sanjay Dutt, Abhishek Bachchan, Vidya Balan, Amole Gupte, Fardeen Khan, Sachin Khedekar, Bhagyashree, and Genelia Deshmukh. It also features Riteish’s sons, Riaan and Rahyl, Jitendra Joshi, Mahesh Manjrekar, Boman Irani, Mohit Takalkar, Suresh Vishwakarma, Ashok Samarth, and more.Salman Khan has made a special appearance in the movie as Jiva Mahala, the guard of Maharaj during the Pratapgad battle with Afzal Khan.Meanwhile, Siddharth Jadhav, Remo D’Souza and Riteish’s brother and politician, Dhiraj Deshmukh, appeared in the anthem ‘Chatrapati’ song.
