A major development has emerged from Siwan, where police killed wanted criminal Sonu Yadav in an encounter. He was accused of opening fire on the nephew and brother-in-law of BJP leader Manoj Singh a few days ago. According to reports, Sonu Yadav had allegedly shot at the BJP leader’s relative four days earlier and had been on the run since then. Police had launched continuous raids to arrest the accused. Acting on a tip-off that Sonu Yadav was hiding in Barhiya with his associates, police conducted a raid. During the operation, the accused allegedly opened fire on the police team, leading to retaliatory firing in which Sonu Yadav was killed. One of his associates was arrested, while several others connected to the case have also been detained. Earlier, another key accused, Chhotu Yadav, was also killed during a police operation. The incident has triggered a political debate over law and order in Bihar, with the opposition targeting the newly formed government led by Samrat Choudhary.
