A shocking case of parcel theft has come to light in Ahmedabad, where police arrested Mohammad Shabbir Mansuri, a delivery boy from Khadia, for stealing packages worth nearly Rs 49 lakh. During initial interrogation, it was revealed that Mansuri had been skipping work for several days, and several customers never received their orders.

The e-commerce company’s manager lodged a complaint stating that around 164 mobile phones and 171 parcels in total were missing, valued at Rs 49 lakh.

Police said Mansuri had been working with a distributor linked to Amazon. However, he stopped showing up for work and failed to deliver the parcels. Following complaints of non-delivery, the company’s manager discovered the discrepancy and reported the theft. Acting on the complaint, Khadia police arrested Mansuri and began questioning him.

Lavish Lifestyle: The Motive

The complaint stated that on July 14, around 171 parcels were sent from Amazon’s Naroda warehouse in a loading rickshaw to the distributor’s unit near Gol Limda in Khadia. These parcels never reached the customers, raising suspicion. On checking, it was found that Mansuri, who was assigned to deliver the parcels, had disappeared. When police searched the warehouse, they confirmed that he had taken away all the parcels and cut off contact with his employers.

During the investigation, it came to light that Mansuri had stolen parcels containing 164 mobile phones, including 45 iPhones worth Rs 22.5 lakh and around 25 other premium phones.

Instead of delivering them, he allegedly tried to sell the devices in Maharashtra, Goa, and Rajasthan at low prices. According to police, Mansuri confessed that he committed the theft to maintain a lavish lifestyle.

Police teams raided his residence in Astodia, but he was not found there initially. Later, through human intelligence and technical surveillance, the accused was traced and arrested within hours. Authorities recovered several of the stolen parcels and produced him in court to seek custody for further questioning.

Investigators are now probing how Mansuri sold nearly 50 phones, where he used the money, and whether others were involved in the racket. Police have said the case is still under investigation, and more details will emerge during his remand
