‘Ramayana’: Yash shoots intense Ravana monologues in Mumbai

'Ramayana Part 2' update: Yash shoots intense Ravana monologues in Mumbai - Reports

Since April, Kannada superstar Yash has been deep in one of the most demanding shooting stretches of his career, filming the internal world of Ravana for Nitesh Tiwari’s ‘Ramayana: Part Two’. Reports reveal that the sequences are written as extended monologues designed to make audiences understand the villain before they judge him.

Yash shoots for ‘Ramayana Part 2’

According to the Mid-Day report, since early April, the shoot at Film City, Goregaon, has centred entirely on Yash. The sequences reportedly explore Ravana’s inner psychology, his reasoning, his worldview, and the beliefs that drive his actions. This is a deliberate creative choice by director Nitesh Tiwari, who appears intent on presenting Ravana as a fully formed character rather than a conventional mythological villain. The report stated, “These aren’t typical villain scenes. They are written as extended monologues, almost like Ravana is reasoning with himself. The idea is to let the audience understand how he sees the world before they judge his actions.”

Importance of sequences

Director Nitesh Tiwari is reportedly taking extra time with these portions, understanding that the emotional impact of the entire second part hinges on whether the audience connects with Ravana’s perspective. The writing, according to the report, does not attempt to soften or redeem the character, it simply allows him to be heard. The report added, “If the audience doesn’t connect with Ravana here, the impact of everything that follows gets diluted. The writing doesn’t try to soften him, but it presents his point of view.”
