Yash: ‘Ramayana is a story about humanity’

Yash calls 'Ramayana' a 'story about humanity'; admits playing Ravana was 'very demanding'

Yash, attended CinemaCon to promote his upcoming film ‘Ramayana’ and did not hold back on any of the details. The actor, who plays the villain Ravana, opposite Ranbir Kapoor’s Lord Rama, offered fresh insight into his upcoming mythological film.In an interview with Collider, the actor was asked why he wanted to be a part of the film, which people in the West may not be familiar with its plot or story. Speaking about introducing the story to global audiences, Yash said, “This is a story that has stayed for 5,000 years. It’s part of our culture. It’s our history. So when a country is so close to this story, so close to the people, it means something because it’s stayed for so long. It really has that significance.”Opening up about what he would like to share with the Western audience, he added, “I think its story about humanity. It’s a story about how a person in any situation, has to conduct himself gracefully.”Yash, who will portray the antagonist Ravana, explained that the film centres on the life and ideals of Lord Rama, an avatar of Vishnu, and how his ideals and journey can resonate with all. Highlighting Lord Rama’s difficult life, he shared, “If you see Rama’s life, Lord Rama faced unbelievable problems in his life in India after being born to a privileged family. He would be born into a royal family, but he starts losing everything, and he takes all of it gracefully. The way he lived his life has become an example. So I think it will connect to every individual. It’s a global emotion. I think they will experience it. It will really help them to understand life in a deeper manner.”The actor also addressed the scale of the project, which is being developed as a two-part film franchise. Describing the experience, he admitted, “It’s very demanding.”He also went on to state that while the Nitesh Tiwari directorial has a lot of ‘technology involved’ in its shoot, he went on to share the filmmaking process saying, “There are a lot of rehearsals, or you do a lot of test shoots and costumes. It takes a lot of time for hair and makeup. So it’s actually very demanding for every actor, but at the same time, it’s also fascinating.”Sharing his love for the craft of acting, he told the portal, “Only if you become an actor, you get all these chances. Since I love this profession, like they say, you start loving things which need to be done. I take it like that, so I enjoy the process.”The ambitious project, still in production, will hit the big screen on Diwali 2026. Go to Source
