Sohail Khan reveals he wanted to name his son Ram Khan: ‘We are secular’

Sohail Khan reveals he wanted to name his son Ram Khan, Seema Sachdeh came up with the name Nirvaan after giving birth: 'We are secular'

Sohail Khan and his former wife, Seema Sajdeh, united for Kunal Kemmu’s reality show ‘Alliance’. Ever since Seema has entered the game, she has been helping Sohail navigate the twists and strategies on the show. While they’ve been divorced, they continue to remain friends with each other and look out for each other in ‘Alliance’. In the latest episode, Sohail opened up about a deeply personal memory, as he revealed the story behind the name of their elder son, Nirvaan Khan. The conversation began when wildcard contestant Aly Goni complimented Sohail and Seema’s sons, Nirvaan and Yohaan Khan, calling them extremely well-mannered. He also pointed out how closely Nirvaan resembles his father. The remark prompted Sohail to recall how he and Seema arrived at their son’s name.Sharing the anecdote, Sohail said, “When Seema was carrying Nirvaan, tab humne masti mazak main decide kiya tha ki agar Ladka hua toh main naam rakhunga aur Ladki hui toh Seema will name her. Mera yeh tha, ki main aapne bete ka naam Ram Khan rakhna chahta tha. We are very secular that way (When Seema was pregnant with Nirvaan, we jokingly decided that if we had a boy, I would choose his name, and if we had a girl, Seema would name her. I wanted to name my son Ram Khan. We are very secular that way).”However, the plan changed after their son was born. Recalling the moment, Sohail added, “When Seema came into consciousness after giving birth, she had also thought of a name in her mind. The doctor said it’s a boy, so I entered the room, she looked at me, and she was a little drowsy, and said, ‘how’s Nirvaan doing?” She said it in a way I didn’t want to change after that.”He further shared that Nirvaan’s personality reflects the meaning of his name, describing his elder son as someone who is calm, peaceful and composed.Sohail Khan and Seema Sajdeh married in 1998 after eloping against their families’ wishes. During their marriage, they welcomed two sons, Nirvaan and Yohaan. The couple officially divorced in 2022 after more than two decades together but have continued to share a cordial bond while co-parenting their children. After Seema joined ‘Alliance’, Sohail spoke about the equation they share today, saying that although their relationship has changed over the years, his respect for her has remained the same. He also revealed that both Nirvaan and Yohaan live with him, while Seema visits their home three times a week to spend time with them.
