Ahead of the vote counting in West Bengal, political tensions have sharply escalated between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the All India Trinamool Congress (TMC). BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari launched a strong attack on Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, accusing her of creating unnecessary drama over the strong room controversy and alleging that her claims are false. He said the people of Bengal have already given their mandate and it must be accepted, while also criticizing the state’s governance over the past 15 years. In response, TMC spokesperson Kunal Ghosh countered the BJP’s claims, asserting that the party is heading for a major victory with more than 230 seats. He alleged that BJP is afraid of the results and criticized the deployment of central forces, calling it politically motivated. He also demanded greater transparency in monitoring arrangements during the counting process. With both sides trading sharp accusations, Bengal’s political atmosphere remains highly charged ahead of the final results.
