LATEST BREAKING: TMC-BJP Clash Erupts in Kalighat as Suvendu Adhikari Faces Protest Crowd

Tensions escalated in Kolkata’s Kalighat area during the final phase of the West Bengal Assembly elections when BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari was reportedly confronted by a group of TMC supporters. The incident quickly drew attention as slogans of “Joy Bangla” were raised by the protesters, leading to a heated political atmosphere on the streets. According to reports, the situation intensified as the crowd gathered near the area where Adhikari was present, resulting in a brief confrontation and heavy sloganeering. In response to the developing situation, Suvendu Adhikari is said to have requested additional deployment of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel to ensure security and control the crowd. Despite repeated appeals from the Election Commission for peaceful and incident-free voting, the Kalighat episode highlighted the continuing political tension between the two major rivals—Trinamool Congress (TMC) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)—during one of the most closely watched phases of the West Bengal elections. The final phase of polling covers 142 assembly constituencies across the state, with Bhabanipur emerging as one of the most high-profile and politically significant seats. Security has been tightened across sensitive zones, and authorities are closely monitoring developments to prevent any escalation of unrest. The incident adds to the already charged political environment in West Bengal, where both parties have been actively campaigning and mobilising support in the concluding phase of the electoral process. Officials continue to stress on maintaining law and order to ensure smooth voting across all districts.
