Sameera Reddy applauds Ranveer Singh’s ‘Dhurandhar’

Sameera Reddy applauds Ranveer Singh's ‘Dhurandhar’, says her 'personal opinion' is not for public discussion

Sameera Reddy is back in the spotlight with her upcoming film ‘Aakhri Sawal’, marking a significant moment after her appearance in ‘Naam’. As she promotes the political drama, the actor has been candid about the ongoing conversations around ‘Dhurandhar’, while also reflecting on her experience of reuniting with Sanjay Dutt and choosing a story that leans into debate and discussion.Having watched both ‘Dhurandhar’ and its follow-up ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’, Sameera didn’t hold back in appreciating the craft. She especially lauded Sanjay Dutt’s performance, calling it “incredible.” Addressing the ongoing debates around the film, she shared with NDTV, “I think it’s a well-made film. Sanju did a great job. I always say it takes two hands to clap. If you look at the numbers, if the audience has watched the film again and again, your answer is right there.”However, she chose not to delve deeper into the political conversations surrounding it. “My opinion on the film is personal. That’s something I don’t want to get into. I would say it’s a well-made film and the audience has spoken,” she added.‘Aakhri Sawal’ aims to question, not take sidesDirected by Abhijeet Warang, ‘Aakhri Sawal’ explores themes linked to the origins of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. Sameera revealed that her decision to take up the project was driven by its intent to provoke thought rather than push a narrative. “I don’t think films need controversy to work. I felt I didn’t have the right knowledge on many things. The good part is, this film questions everybody. This film doesn’t take sides,” she shared, highlighting the film’s neutral stance. She further added, “People get very triggered by these conversations. One thing is to get upset about it. But the smart thing would be to get more information and ask the right questions.” In the film, Sameera essays a left-leaning character who challenges perspectives within the narrative.

Sameera Reddy’s reunion with Sanjay Dutt after ‘Musafir’

Reuniting with Sanjay Dutt after their 2004 film ‘Musafir’, Sameera described the experience as warm and nostalgic. “Sanju is doing really well. I feel very proud that he is doing such incredible work right now. Knowing someone for so many years and meeting him again on set is the sweetest thing,” she said.Sharing lighter moments, she added, “We literally laughed, became nostalgic. We met like old buddies after a long time and even discussed our kids. I really respect him. Working with him and in his production was something I really wanted to be a part of.”

Sameera Reddy’s comeback or continuation?

While many are calling ‘Aakhri Sawal’ her comeback project, Sameera has a different perspective. “People can say what they want. I don’t take it badly because it’s their perception. In my mind, I have realized being in the public eye has many layers, and films are just one of them,” she said. She concluded by clarifying, “If people want to think I am coming back, I don’t mind. I have never left. But yes, I did take a break for sure.”Also starring Namashi Chakraborty, Nitu Chandra, and Amit Sadh alongside Sanjay Dutt and Sameera Reddy, ‘Aakhri Sawal’ is slated to hit theatres on May 15.
